Balmoral Grist Mill Museum

Discover this three-storey mill tucked away in a wooded gorge on Matheson's Brook
See grains being ground and turned into flour just as they have been since Alexander MacKay opened this mill in 1874
Sample the flavour of oats toasted and turned on the cast iron floor of the kiln, heated over a maple fire.
Feel the mill in action and hear the whirr of wooden gears as shafts and pulleys turn the original Scottish granite millstones. Treat yourself to the experience of a grist mill from Nova Scotia's past.
Enquire about times for milling demonstrations. Please note - the mill will be closed during part of the 2009 season (Mid-July - September) while the dam is being replaced. Please call for updated information.
